Begonia 'Tingley Mallet' is a classic. It was introduced in about 1884-6 by M. Lionnet in Jouy-en-Jonas, France. It is a cross between a rex, B. 'Eldorado' and a shrub species B. incarnata purpurea. It is a member of the Mallet type canes but I feel the growth habit is more shrub-like and is frequently classified as a shrub. The leaves are a purplish red and covered with tiny hairs that give it a velvet like texture. The flowers are bright pink. This is an heirloom cultivar from France.

Great posture and Great hair!

The leaves are really hairy and the colors are definitely distinct compared to some begonias. It has a constant 5 o’clock shadow!
Easy to grow, leaves are getting large quickly and stems are strong and tall

Happy plant happy gal

It came quickly and in great packaging. It has been doing well as it is already putting out new growth two. weeks later! And, ofc, the plant is stunning 😍Everything I could have asked for!
