Begonia longiciliata ‘Sizemoreae’
B. longiciliata ‘Sizemoreae’ was once considered a unique species (B. sizemoreae), but has since been reclassified as a form of B. longiciliata. This is a magnificent form of B. longiciliata that was found in North Vietnam by plant hunter Mary Sizemore of Florida.
The oval shaped leaves are light green with a wide band of silver around the leaf. In the areas that are green the small veins are chocolate brown. The leaf surface is sparsely covered with long white hairs. The petioles are densely covered with white hair making this is really an unusual new find. It is fast growing and easy to propagate; it prefers extra humidity so for best results, grow it in a humid greenhouse, garden room or large terrarium. The leaf coloration changes dramatically with age.
