Hoya microstemma (NS11-145) was first documented on September 14, 1909, by renowned botanist Rudolf Schlechter in what was then known as German New Guinea, now modern-day Papua New Guinea. His collection originated from the Torricelli Mountains in the northeastern region of the island, at an elevation of approximately 800 meters. Interestingly, this species has not been rediscovered in that area since.
The particular clone offered here was collected in 2011, by Nathalie Simonsson in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. Her find comes from the southwestern region of the country.
