Rhipsalis pentaptera is a trailing succulent native to Brazil. This unusual cactus has only been recorded to grow naturally in a small area of what is now Rio De Janeiro. And is now presumed to be extinct. It makes long chains of green thick succulent stems that hang over the side of a pot or trail from a hanging basket. It has small white flowers on the stems. It is sometimes listed under it's synonym Hatiora pentaptera. It makes an odd but magnificent hanging basket.
