Begonia metallica is a shrub-like species from Brazil. The leaves are medium green with dark sunken veins. The leaf margin is lobed and both surfaces are covered with short hairs. The leaves have been described as looking like embossed silk. The growth habit is upright. The flowers are pink with red hairs on the buds and appear in summer and fall. This is an easy to grow, upright, full begonia.

Shade to partial sun, temp. 45 to 95 degrees, 18 to 24 in. tall, allow getting fairly dry between watering.

Totally Rocks

The plants are already large and growing side shoots after a month, once you re-pot this one it goes bonkers. Hairy leaves are really pretty on the surface and on the backside too. Higher light makes them more reddish colored
