Begonia ‘Mogwai’ is a new rhizomaous-cultivar that was hybridized by Tyler Herman of Charlotteville, VA. It is a cross of B. melanobullata X B. filiformis. The light green leaves have a very nice silver and bronze bullate texture. When the leaves are young, they are bronze and covered with long white hairs. It has a very full growth habit. Ever see the movie Gremlins? Well, this Begonia might just be its plant counterpart! Begonia 'Mogwai' (the Cantonese word for Monster) is a quirky hybrid with leaves covered in silver-based bullae, giving it a shimmery, otherworldly look. With hairy stems, leaves, and flowers, this begonia is as cuddly as it is unique. Just remember to give it a little extra humidity to grow big and strong. This little Gremlin is sure to be the talk of your plant collection!
