Ruellia makoyana is commonly called “Monkey Flower” and “Trailing Velvet Plant”. It is a native to Brazil. The velvety, olive green, lance shaped leaves have with a silver line down the center. The undersides of the leaves are a flashy purple color. The growth habit is spreading and trailing and it will make a lovely hanging basket. It blooms frequently with bright pinkish-purple trumpet-like flowers. This is really a stunning houseplant that will quickly grow to make a showy specimen.

Ruellia makoyana:
Partial sun to shade, temp. 45 to 95 degrees, 6 to 8 in. tall, trailing 8 to 10in. Allow to get slightly dry between waterings.
