Begonia 'West Texas Blizzard' is one of our newest hybrids. It is a cross between B. U489 and a unnamed rex cultivar, B. "Silver with Dots". We are classifying it as a rex cultivar, although it could be called a rhizomatous. The leaves are medium - large, silver in the center with a charcoal black margin. In the charcoal margin are flecks of silver and the back of the leaf is red. The leaf surface is slightly raised between the veins. The female flowers are large, 1.5in. to1.75in.across and the yellow stigma is surrounded by 9 pink petals. It makes a large full plant.
