Begonia variegata (Grey Form) is a new rhizomatous species from Yunnan, China. The leaves are large and look a lot like the “Iron Cross” begonia. The leaf is light green with a chocolate brown iron cross in the center and a dark brown band around the leaf margin. The texture of the leaf surface is blistered. This is a slow growing species that is very unusual. An invalid synonym for this species is B. masoniana var. maculata.
