Begonia chlorosticta is one of the most exotic foliage begonias in cultivation. It is native to the lowland forests of Sarawak, Malaysia. It was once called "ex Kew species" or U038. The elliptic shaped leaves of this shrub-like begonia are olive green with chartreuse blotches. The main veins near the point of petiole attachment are red. It has a shrubby growth habit and likes lots of humidity. It is usually grown in a terrarium but will do well in a humid greenhouse. The flowers are white.
Note: This begonia is likely to lose many leaves in transit or have crispy edges when it arrives, which is very normal.
Care of Begonia chlorosticta:
Shade to partial shade, temp. 65 to 95 degrees, 10 to 12 in. tall, allow getting slightly dry between watering, requires high humidity, usually grown in a terrarium.
