Aptenia cordifolia var. variegata, sometimes called Baby Sun Rose, is a South African creeper. Low growing and branching freely, this variegated cultivar has small, light green, oval shaped leaves with white margins. The leaves are succulent and covered with little crystal like glands. The flowers are rosy-purple and look like miniature asters and this little plant blooms spring, summer and fall. Aptenia is great as groundcover or for a hanging container. A synonym is Mesembryanthemum cordifolium.
