Monstera acacoyaguensis is a tree-climbing aroid with a native range spanning from Mexico to Belize. Juvenile foliage is small and lanceolate, but will begin to change if the plant is able to climb. As it takes root in a climbing medium it will begin to produce mature foliage. Leaves become larger and sport numerous fenestrations throughout.
