Begonia 'Alice Faye' is an outstanding hybrid created by Lyla Kilpatrick of Perth, Australia. The parents are B. 'Lenore Olivier' and the Mexican rhizomatous species B. hydrocotylifolia. It is also interesting because the inflorescence stands upright, although sometimes it gets so heavy it falls over. This gives a unique look to this cane-like hybrid. It has been described as a hydrangea begonia because of the way it holds its flowers. The flowers are bright pink in large clusters. The large leaves are oval shaped and shinny black. This is really an unusual begonia.

(Lyla Kilpatrick, Western Australia, 1995)

Care of Begonia 'Alice Faye':
Shade to partial sun, temp. 50 to 95 degrees, 15 to 20 inches tall, allow getting slightly dry between waterings.

Family: Begoniaceae

This plant is shipped in a 3.5 - 4 inch pot.
