Begonia 'Mo Reese' is a compact rhizomatous type begonia. The black oval leaves are medium sized with red on the reverse side. The leaf margin is lobed and the leaves have a spiral at the point of petiole attachment. There are tiny white hairs on the leaf margin. It has light pink flowers on stems that rise above the foliage, in the winter and early spring. This is an easy to grow house plant though, like most rhizomatous begonias, ‘Mo Reese’ needs natural day lengths or short days (less than 8 hours of light) in the winter to initiate flower development. If you are growing it in a room, where the lights are on at night, it will not bloom. This is a delightful window-sill plant or mix it with other plants in a dish garden.
(Caviness, OK, 1992)
Care of Begonia 'Mo Reese':
Shade to partial shade, temp. 45 to 95 degrees, 6 to 8 in. tall, allow getting dry between watering.
Family: Begoniaceae
This plant is shipped in a 3 - 4 inch pot.
