Begonia heracleifolia, also known as the star begonia, is a rhizomatous species native to Mexico and Central America. It has succulent, palmate leaves that are green with dark margins, but the patterns can vary considerably from leaf to leaf. The reverse of the leaves are mottled with burgundy and the pubescent petioles carry the same coloration. This is a large begonia that can grow several feet tall with leaves spanning up to a foot across.
