Don't forget WSA!!!

We strongly recommend adding WSA if your local HIGH temperatures are below 55 degrees Fahrenheit in your location.

Begonia U038 is a species from Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo) that was previously misidentified as B. chlorosticta and treated as its green form. It has since been confirmed to represent a distinct species, separate from B. chlorosticta (dark/red form). Pending formal description and naming, it retains its original U-number designation, U038, assigned in the early 1980s.

The elliptic shaped leaves of this shrub-like begonia are olive green with chartreuse blotches. The main veins near the point of petiole attachment are red. It has a shrubby growth habit and likes lots of humidity. It is usually grown in a terrarium but will do well in a humid greenhouse. The flowers are white.

Note:  This begonia is likely to lose many leaves in transit or have crispy edges when it arrives, which is very normal. It is HIGHLY recommended that these are shipped with an expedited shipping method (Overnight or 2Day).

Care of Begonia U038:

  • Bright, indirect light
  • 45 to 95 degrees
  • Humidity 60% or more- terrarium recommended
  • 10 to 12 in. tall
  • Water when top two inches of soil are dry

Family: Begoniaceae
