Begonia maculata is a cane-like species native to Brazil. On this selection the large, long leaves are olive green on the top covered with large silver dots. The back of the leaf is red. It has large clusters of white flowers. This species is sometimes mistakenly called B. maculata wightii. This is a very difficult species begonia that needs extremely high humidity (<70%) to thrive.

Care of Begonia maculata:
Shade to partial shade, temp. 50 to 95 degrees, 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall, allow getting slightly dry between waterings, humidity >70%.
