Begonia 'Lucerna' is the old classic "Angel Wing Begonia". It was hybridized in 1892 by Wettstein of Lucerne, Switzerland. It was originally called 'Corallina de Lucerna'. This is a large grower and flowers frequently. The leaves are olive green with small silver spots on the top and red on the bottom. The flowers are rosy red to pink depending on the amount of light it gets. The flowers are darker in higher light. The flowers appear in large clusters that hang from the stems. This early cultivar is very easy to grow and propagate. It is a popular pass-a-long plant because of its ease of culture. It can get 6 to 8 ft. tall if you stake it or you can cut it back and keep it 18 to 24ins. tall.

Shade to partial sun, temp 50 to 100 degrees, with staking it can get 6 to 8 ft. tall. allow to get slightly dry between waterings.
