Alocasia cuprea - 5.5" Pot

Alocasia cuprea is an unusual Aroid native to Borneo. The name cuprea, from the Latin word for copper, was given in reference to the metallic shift of the leaves. Young leaves are dark purple to green with an iridescence that almost resembles that of a beetle shell. Once established, leaves can grow up to 24 inches long.

What we offer is the original form of Alocasia cuprea as it grows in the wild--Not to be confused with Alocasia cuprea "Red Secret", which is a mutation that occurred as a result of tissue culture propagation.

Care of Alocasia cuprea:

  • Bright, indirect light.
  • Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy.
  • humidity 50-60%

Family: Araceae
