Pearcea abunda is a species from Ecuador. At one time it was labeled as Pearcea USBRG 1994-276. The oblong leaves are bright green and covered with soft fuzzy hairs. The stems and the veins on the back of the leaves are bright red and also covered with the same short hairs. The contrast of the bright green and red is dazzling. It looks like Christmas. The flowers are are bright red and covered with hairs. This plant is in the African violet family and is sensitive to cold drafts and cold water. This is very easy to grow.
Shade to partial shade, temp. 55 to 95 degrees, 12 to 18in. tall, allow getting slightly dry between watering, water with room temperature water.
