Iresine herbstii is a bushy tropical plant from Brazil. This colorful plant is grown for its bright hot pink to red foliage. It has several common names and is sometimes called, “Chicken Gizzard”, ‘Bloodleaf” and “Beefsteak Plant”. It can be grown as a house plant, in a sunny window, bedding plant in warm summer areas or as a shrub in tropical areas. It has notch at the apex of the leaf. This is a fast grower. Grow it in the sun or in extremely hot summer areas give it a little afternoon shade.
