Begonia U358 is an unidentified Begonia species that was brought back from the Penang Botanical Garden in Malaysia. It is a rhizomatous Begonia with rhizome jointed at soil surface with upright stems. The medium sized leaves are shallowly lobed, silvery green in color and has faint silver spots. The veins of the leaf are light green. The back of the leaf is red. The flowers are light pink. It gets 15 to 18inches tall. This rhizomatous begonia is somewhat cold hardy in areas with mild winter temperatures. Mulching it in the winter help it survive the cold. It has picked up the common name of “Pewterware”.
