Begonia pavonina is a rhizomatous species from Malaysia. The leaves are dark bronze/green and red at the back. The flowers are light pink. When it is grown in low light the leaves have an attractive iridescent blue sheen to them. One of the common names for this species is “Peacock Begonia.”. This species grows along streams in the higher elevations of Malaysia. It does like high humidity and needs to be grown in a terrarium or greenhouse.

Shade, temp. 50 to 95 degrees, 10 to 12in. tall, allow getting fairly dry between watering.
