Begonia ‘Gypsy Rose’ is a Mallet type shrub hybrid hybridized by Billee and Don Asmussen of Corpus Christi, Texas. It is a B. ‘Tingley Mallet’ hybrid. The leaves have the purplish red coloration of most Mallet type hybrids and are sparsley covered with short hairs. The back of the leaf is deep red. It has a short compact growth habit. The flowers are bright pink and hang in small clusters.

Shade to partial sun, temp 55 to 95 degrees, 15 to 18ins. tall, allow getting slightly dry between watering

    Absolutely beautiful plant arrived from Steve’s. The pictures above are great, but almost don’t do this one full justice. The leaves have a lot of color (pink, red, purple). Likes a little bit of extra humidity, being a mallet type shrub. Ours grows excellent on top of our fish tank in a normal 6″ pot with moderate light. Avoid direct sunlight with this begonia…leaves scorch quite quickly.
