Begonia burkillii

Begonia burkillii is a gorgeous Indian species brought into cultivation by Rekha Morris, through her dangerous collecting trips to the highly restricted areas of Arunachal Pradish in Northern India. The colors in the elliptic shaped leaves are mint green with chocolate brown blotches. The growth habit of this rhizomatous species is compact and mounding. This species is dioecious which means there are individuals that have only female flowers and individuals that have only male flowers. This clone is male. The large male flowers are greenish when in bud but open to light pink. This botanical prize does require extra humidity so grow it in a humid greenhouse or large terrarium.
